Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 - Depart USA Depart US from Newark Liberty International Airport for overnight flight to Paris. D (in flight)
Day 2 - Arrival Upon arrival, the group will transfer to our bus and depart for the historic city of Reims, for a tour of Eisenhower’s Headquarters and the site of the final German Surrender. We then continue to the fortress city of Metz, site of many German fortifications and a major chokepoint for Patton’s advance north. We then continue to Luxembourg City and check into our hotel, followed by dinner and tour briefing this evening. B (in flight) /L/D
Day 3 - 3rd Army Attacks Breakfast and depart for tour the city, with visits to Hamm American Cemetery and Patton's grave, as well as the "Diekirch" museum en route to our hotel. The tour will trace the route of Patton's 3rd Army attack north from Luxembourg to Bastogne, stopping at Assenois pillbox (where Patton’s 4th Armored Div broke through the encirclement of Bastogne and opened a corridor to let supplies in and wounded out) – Patton’s Memorial - Shumann’s Crossing – River Sûre crossing – Heidersheid – Patton’s statue in Ettelbruck. We check into our hotel in Bastogne, with dinner at leisure. B/-/-
Day 4 - Siege of Bastogne Breakfast and depart for Bastogne. Today we will tour Bastogne and the surrounding battlefields. We will visit Houffalaize to look at the commemorative plaques and the German Mark V Panther that had toppled into the river and is now a memorial to the battle for the town. We will also visit the battlefields of the “Band of Brothers” in E/506 PIR at Bois Jacques and Foy, continuing with visits to the Mardasson Memorial Museum, the Bastogne Historical Center and other battle related areas. Following lunch, we continue our exploration toward Clerveaux before returning to our hotel. This evening, we have a discussion about the German Battle Plan, their weapons and tactics and what it would have taken them to have won the battle. B/L/-
Day 5 - The German Attacks Breakfast and depart for battlefield. Today our tour begins at the Siegfried Line along the Belgian-German border, which is the eastern edge of the Krinkelter Dreiherrenwald Forest. Around St.Vith we will see numerous foxholes and the dug-in field hospital used by the 2nd Infantry Div (Indian Head) to defend St. Vith. Memorials to the 2nd Inf. Div, 106th Inf Div and various smaller units abound in this area as we proceed to the eastern end of the Schwarzenbruch Trail, which served as a direct route through the forest for the German attack on Krinkelt and Rocherath. This area was defended by the U.S. 393rd Infantry Regiment of the 99th Infantry Division. We will continue the tour at the western edge of the forest and follow the German advance on Krinkelt and beyond. B/-/D
Day 6 - Kampfgruppe Peiper Breakfast and depart for battlefield. Our route today continues through the Schnee Eifel to Losheim from where we follow Peiper’s advance through Bütgenbach, Büllingen, Losheimergraben, Lanzerath and into Malmedy, where we will see the site of the infamous massacre. Our tour continues through Stavelot to Trois-Ponts, Stoumont and the road to Spa, the farthest advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper. B/L/-
Day 7- Hurtgen Forest Following breakfast, we depart for battlefield. The tour today will trace the 28th Infantry Division's attack toward Schmidt via the Kall Trail. We will then travel into the Hürtgen Forest to study the battle that took place here in late 1944 during the American drive toward Schmidt, Germany. Our tour takes us through the surrounding countryside to study the terrain features with a stop to view the Stausee (Stau Lake) and the important Schwammauel Dam. B/-/D
Day 8 - Monschau Depart for the battlefield, for a study of the fighting in this area as the German army launched its final offensives before beginning a retreat that continued through the final months of the war. We will lunch and visit beautiful Monschau between hills, waterfalls and streams. B/L/-
Day 9 - To Brussels Breakfast. Depart for Brussels for overnight with stops at Ardennes or Henri Chappelle Cemetery (based on family interest) and other sites of historical interest en route. Following check in at our hotel, we join together for our farewell dinner. B/-/D

10 - Departure We bid farewell to Europe, as our group departs this morning
for our flight back to Newark International Airport. B/-/-
