28- 29 July, Sunday - Day One & Two: Group arrival
at Los Angeles International Airport in preparation for our departure from Los
Angeles on Korean Airlines flight #18 for Incheon/Seoul International Airport,
and connect to our flight to Ha Noi. Flight departs Los Angeles at 00:30 am,
29 July.
30 July, Monday - Day Three: Arrive in Ha Noi after lunch and proceed to our hotel in the Old Quarter of Ha Noi. Hotel: Sunny Hotel
31 July, Tuesday - Day Four: Full-day city tour of Ha Noi to include the John McCain Statue near Ho Tay and Truc Bac Lakes, the Army Museum, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and especially, if time and factors allow, a briefing by the J-Pac Command (Joint Task Force for Full Accounting) on the status of remains recovery efforts in Southeast Asia. 1 August, Wednesday - Day Five: Early morning departure for flight to Da Nang. After hotel check-in, start touring Da Nang and the environs around the old NSA and Marble Mountain Air Facility. B, L, Dinner, included Hotel: Bamboo Green Central
2 August, Thursday - Day Six: Proceed south of the "Rocket Belt" and visit the old AO's around An Hoa Combat Base, Antenna Valley, Liberty Bridge, the Arizona Territory, and the Vu Gia/Tu Bon River valleys. B,L, Dinner on your own. Hotel: Bamboo Green Central
3 August, Friday - Day Seven: Another full day in the field as we travel (early!) down Highway 1 through the (new) city of Tam Ky and on to Chu Lai Air Base and beyond to the Tra Bong region of Operations Starlite. Tour the My Lai area. B, L, Dinner, Hotel: Tam Ky Hotel
4 August, Saturday - Day Eight: The field experience continues with an early morning departure for "The Que Sons." The Que Son Mountains, the Ly Ly River Basin, and the region around Hiep Duc saw some of the bitterest fighting from 1967 till the end of the war. Visit Hiep Duc, Nui Loc Son, the Que Son Valley, and numerous other sites. B, L, Dinner on your own. Hotel: Bamboo Green.
5 August, Sunday - Day Nine: Drive north to Hue City, passing through Da Nang, over the top of the Hai Van Pass, and down through Lang Co, and the Phu Loc Region - one of the prettiest and most photogenic in all of Viet Nam with plenty of time to stop along the way for any special requests. Upon entering Hue, a walking tour will be conducted of the battle areas south of the Perfume River (Song Huong), along with a full historical account of 2/5's and 1/1's actions during the Tet Offensive in January/February, 1968. B, L, Dinner cruise on the Perfume River. Hotel: Huong Giang Hotel, Hue.
6 August, Monday - Day Ten: Continue north to Dong Ha and the DMZ. After a brief rest stop, we'll tour the whole length of Route 9 with the final objective of the Khe Sanh Combat Base Area. Return to Dong Ha. B, L, included. Dinner on your own. Hotel: Don Truong Son, Dong Ha
7 August, Tuesday - Day Eleven: Depart for the drive south to DaNang, with plenty of rest stops along the way or for any last-minute site visits or photos. Lunch provided at any one of the unique resorts in the village of Lang Co. B,L, included. Dinner on your own. Hotel: Bamboo Green Central.
8 August, Wednesday - Day Twelve: This day is dedicated to R&R, shopping, beach time in Hoi An or Da Nang, or re-packing for the trip home. Hoi An is shoppers' paradise, and has many fine restaurants serving a wide variety of different cuisines. Or, you may opt to revisit old war sites, or visit those that were missed the first time around. Side tours are easily arranged with car, driver, and local guide. (at the customer's expense) MHT Tour Directors will assist you in these arrangements. Breakfast included. L, D, on your own. Hotel: Bamboo Green Central
9 August, Thursday - Day Thirteen: This morning we take the first flight out of Da Nang for Ha Noi and start the trip home. After a day of transiting through the Sunny Hotel in Ha Noi, we depart at midnight for the connecting flight to Los Angeles. You'll have a last-minute opportunity to souvenir-shop or take in the sights and sounds of Ha Noi. Breakfast included. L, D, on your own. Hotel: Sunny (For rest and transit only)
10 August, Friday - Day Fourteen: Arrive LAX on Korean
